Wireless Means Real-time Inventory Management

At A3 Technologies, we’re often asked about the benefit vs. cost trade-off of implementing a wireless Inventory Management System. Many customers believe that a “batch” system is cheaper because portable data collection terminals are dropped into a docking station and data is downloaded. This requires no radios in the terminals, no wireless infrastructure, and no IT resources.

In fact, a batch system is more expensive but the costs are often less tangible:

•How much time is wasted by warehouse workers returning to a central office to download data after each transaction?

• When a terminal breaks or the battery dies in the middle of an operation, what does the loss of its scanned data really cost?

• What’s the cost when the Shipping Manager can’t tell a key customer where their order is in the picking or packing process?

Wireless systems mean real-time data. Workers can move from step to step in the most efficient manner possible. If the terminal fails, no data is lost because that data is already safe in your system. Finally, real-time data provides real-time updates, both to customers and senior management.

Call A3 Technologies for a no-nonsense evaluation of your current processes and an eye-opening peek at the benefits if a real-time wireless inventory management system.
